Uric acid levels
I’ve recently been diagnosed with gout after my first attack justbefore Christmas. On researching gout on the Internet I came acrossthis mailing list last week, and have been reading my way throughsome of the recent posts. It’s all very interesting stuff - much morethen you ever get from a hurried GP.
I’ve had two blood tests to measure my U/A levels, and they came backwith levels around 500 (micro mol / gram of blood if I remembercorrectly). Reading through the posts here people are talking aboutlevels between 4 and 5. Is this a different measure of u/a levels, ordifferent units, or something different all together?
Thanks if someone can help me with my newbie question

Hi..yes there are 2 levels..one in umol the other in..I can’tremember..they are different measurements unit wise..there is acorrelation out here on this site somewhere.BOTH relate to the amountof urate in the blood percentage wise. The differences are notimportant..they both have an average scale. What IS important is thatfor a gout sufferer you reduce your level 20 to 30% and keep itthere..AND keep it in the low side of the average range.
