It really sucks looking at a big red foot while relief sits in themedicine cabinet...but then again I wouldn't know because I regularlypoison myself with drugs, diet, and exercise and I live pain free.

I don't think there are many in our quaint little group that wouldn'tlove to stop taking pharmaceuticals and live so called "naturally",however until that method is tried and tested, I do not have thecourage to lay in bed with a mammoth red foot, contemplating suicide, wondering if I didn't put enough salt or apple cider in my bath water.

Thankfully, however, people like you are the pioneers and will alwaysbe remembered for the pain you endured so all of us can have adifferent alternative to prescription medication. Please don't think Idon't appreciate it...

Based on my own experience, I don't think gluten is a problem for gout. Inoticed a long time ago that wheat gluten was not on any of the lists of foodsgout patients should avoid (at least any of the ones I saw). Because of that Istarted using gluten products and have been for years. Some of the stuff I eatregularly is almost pure gluten. So far I've never had a gout attack aftereating it. However, we're all a little different and not everyone will have thesame response (especially those with gluten intolerance).

GLAD! to see you're still here with us..OKOK..I'll take away thepox on gout..MAYBE.Here..have a beer!ME TOO!Anyone else want a beerand cheeeburger..

You have asked a LOT of good questions!Brought up a LOT of goodPINTS..SORRY I MEANT points....

I am THE FIRST person to say that..NO allopurinol is not "THE"answer..BUT..BUT..BUT..it is pretty much ALL there is..RIGHT NOW!..

I have pretty much worn out my horn(WHOOPS) locking it withEVERYONE! over the uric acid issue.

I have referred to allopurinol as "junk science"/piecemeal.andthe WHOLE way it treats gout..as a JOKE!

     AND it is..

The REAL problem is stopping excess uric acid from getting intothe joints in the first place.Right now..the very best informationthere is says.."We have NO idea how/why this happens"

ALL we do know is that..here you go buddy..we have to lower YOURuric acid..to fix your gout??..HEY WHY ME?..my uric acid is nothigh..look at that guy..with RAGING levels..he doesn't have gout..howcome?AGAIN.."No idea"..

OFTEN..more often..than we know..or like to admit..gout is NOTrelieved by a purine free diet or absence of alcohol..CERTAINLLYdidn't make any difference to me.

Gout is NEVER,EVER! cured..I was QUICKLY!! interrupted(RARE andout of character by my rheumatologist!!!!)..by this.."ARNOLD..WE DONOT!!!!! Talk about gout and a cure in the same converation"..thelast time I saw him

There is an absence of attacks..and a removal of uric aciddeposits..

I have had pretty bad attacks while ON allopurinol..WHEN Iexpected some sort of guarantee..I still have minorattacks/irritation.In EVERY case that I have read/heard about..anattack while ON allopurinol is pretty much a happy time compared toan attack when NOT on it..

You are basically right about the colchicine..there is indeedDISAGREEMENT as to how it ACTUALLY/EXACTLY works..it is involved withsome kind of cell mutation..in this case white blood cells..again toquote from a rheumatologist.."Think of colchicine as a FENCE thatkeeps the white blood cells from attacking the foreign bodies(crystals)"..UNTIL the problem goes away..(attack)..I HAD to spend 11/2 yrs on it 2-3 times a day..

      Whatever you get relief from..

Any sort of EXTERNAL breaking down of ANYTHINNG into uricacid..does not really make much difference to the overalllevel..either in the blood or in the joints..

It is the INTERNAL breaking down..by the body..it's ownproduction of uric acid that has to be reduced. We somehow gotta 20 to30 % of the uric acid in the blood..OUT..allopurinol is about theonly way now..

The above is the most DANGEROUS component of ANYTHING touted forgout..ALMOST all of them talk of reduced uric acid levels..that isreduced by something you take..the only thing you can take isallopurinol that works by reducing the bodies own manufacture ofit..ALMOST all other products work by reducing the uric acidcomponent in the food we eat/digestive tract..MOST ALSO reccommenddrinking a LOT of extra water..cutting back on this/that..doingthis /that..

     I don't think I missed anything..??

GLAD! that you came back buddy/stayed..I got this BIG syringeFILLED with URIC ACID!..and I THOUGHT I was gonna have to chase youdown!
