One diuretic in particular has a definite link to elevated uric acidlevels. Hydrochlorothyazide is the culprit. I was on a combinationblood pressure medication for over two years before my Dr. discoveredthe link. It also coincided with my internet discovery of the samething. This drug was replaced with a different diuretic and I havebeen gout free since Feb of this year. Mind you, I am also takingColchicine.6 daily

I currently take atenolol for high blood pressure, and have done forjust over 3 years. I have suffered from gout for the last 3 years. Itseems to me that it is only me that sees the link - my GP certainlydoesn't. Anyone else know anything about atenolol or experienced anyeffects?
