Diclofenac is the proper name. It is marketed with the proprietary name of Voltarol or Voltaren in Europe - and there are many generic products.Arthrotec is a combination of diclofenac with misoprostol, to reduce its gastric side effects - which is partially effective. The 'normal uric acid level is a description which does not, as is usual with other substances, relate to the mean of a population plus 2 standard deviations. It relates to the solubility of urate in plasma or serum. About 10% of people with acute gout have level of urate below 7.5 mgm/100 mls (= about 480 micromoles per litre) at the time of the attack. There are many people with 'high' urate levels who do not get gout, but the risk of eventually getting gout rises with the level of plasma or serum (ie blood) urate.Gout can become permanent - the more frequent, severe and untreated the attacks, the more likely that permanent joint damage will arise, with secondary osteoarthritis.
