Tendonitis and gout
Does anyone know if there is any relationship between the occurrenceor cause of tendonitis and those for gout?
In the last few years I have had the growing symptoms of gout. My GPpicked up on this straight away - when I got round to seeing him -and have been on 300mg of Allo for the past 6 weeks. However, aboutthe same time the gout was making itself felt I developed painfulinflammations in my both Achilles’ tendons. These made me look anarthritic old rooster walking on sharp stones when I get out of bedin the morning or if I sit still for more than an hour or so.
I noticed that the tendonitis seemed to come and go pretty much insync with a gout attack and wondered if the 2 were related in someway.

They are both manifestations of a system that is overly acidic.
The body can only process so much much acid at a time. Ifit is overloaded, acid gets repressed into soft tissue.

Dan: what is your evidence for this explanation?

Evidence for the gout and tendonitis tying in together is only frommy personal experience, the 2 seem to occur at the same time. As forit being tendonitis, I have swellings in both Achilles tendons from1″ to 2″ above my heals. These are painful to squeeze `so stopsqueezing them!’ and make putting any strain in my Achillestendonsinitially moderately painful until they stretch out. When asked my GPsaid it was tendoitis.

Is it the same uric acid in both cases or is there different acidrelated to tendoitis?

I’m not sure but I don’t think it matters if you look at the issuein a macro sense. There are other types of acids but I’m guessingthey will all create a problem when they are concentrated in the joint.
Another possibility here is that instead of acid being shunted into thethe joints, maybe it’s always there but when the body and blood arebeing subjected to an overly acidic diet/lifestyle, alkaline substances arebeing drawn out of the joints to balance the blood. Hence creating anoverly acidic condition in the joints.

It seems you are quite focused on the overly/underly acidic state ofthe body. This seems to be a really challenging way to tackle theproblem at hand. I can’t imagine what your diet consists of but itdoesn’t sound like fun!

But I assure you there are many things in life more important than food…Even so, my diet is quite robust

Isn’t “gouty tendonitis” actually “gout” in the tendons/ligamentsarea.Isn’t that where crystals actually irritate the tendons andligaments in the synovial area?I read something where MTS(metarsaltunnel syndrome) could be a form of gout as this was actually thecrystals cutting into the tunnel/sheath that holds thetendons/ligaments.occurrence
