My problem areas are toe, foot and ankle joints, and sometimes to a lesser extent the knees. It certainly possible for gout to affect the hands and wrists also, but I don’t have any direct experience with this.
I have had gout for many years, and the acute attacks have become worse and more frequent even when taking prophylactic medications. My left ankle was bad for three weeks in June, it got better and now my right ankle is under acute attack. This is the first time that I have had 2 attacks back to back like this. I do know that when you get it young like I did, your joints develop permanent damage over time. I know this is more info than you wanted, but I just needed to vent a bit.
