Colchicine taken but still swelling

My dad took colchicine last night and it stopped his gout attackhowever the swelling in the foot is still present and has changedareas, is this normal?

Amalgams?

Does anyone here have amalgams? Anyone here ever done a hair toxictest?Other than a standard urinalysis ,,Has anyone here ever done aDMSA challenge test?I want to hear of any toxic heavy metalpoisonings,,,gout is a symptom of lead poisoning in some cases,,Ifeel there is a link

Allopurinol works

First let me state I am not a doctor ,And I dont wish to lead anyoneastray,,,I DON’T DOUBT ALLOPURINOL WORKS !My point sunscreen works infiltering harmful uv rays ,,hmmm I wonder if a heavy long sleeveshirt works also. When I stated many different types of gout ,I guessI should have said “We are all on different diets ,so our gouttriggers may differ”Walter said “We have more uric acid in our bodies than our naturalregulatory system can handle ” “End of discussion”(What anangry /intolerant statement )Well you made my point for me .Ournatural reg. system isnt natural anymore but damaged goods .Soeveryone with high , normal ,or a uric acid level over 4.0 hasgout .Really?I said One size fits all dangerous ?Well I guess not since waltersaid so .We are all the same and every drug out there affects us allthe same .Allopurinol is 100per cent effective .Quite a stack ofpaper to review. It doesnt matter What I “feel”about it .Statement stands alone

I have read info on allopurinol. So everything pro allopurinol must bethe “Truth”.The FDA gets drug info from drug manufacturers ,so thereis a conflict of interest. If allopurinol is much like the chemicalour bodies produce ,,,Well what happened to that chemical,,where isit ,,you think possibly that our systems may be damaged and we dontproduce it ,,why?

Amalgams that I refer to are “Dental Amalgams “,silver fillingscomprised of 50% mercury. The second most harmful substance on theplanet. But the ADA has deemed them safe since 1800s

You call me an ignorant idiot ,ridicule me .I have never responded toyou that way.You got an anger issue with me and my abstinence fromallopurinol.I stated I would take itYou are trying to help me . You could’nt give a shit about me or mycondition, so save it and quit using it to get your point across.Idont have all the answers(or any acording to you )Get a hair analysisdone quick, you have other issues than gout .

I dont profess knowledge , but ask that people keep thier eyes andears open .I only mention things I read asking that maybe there is achance something out there works not to cover up , lower ,or inhibituric acid production,, I want to know where the natural chemical mybody produces to excrete uric acid and why I might not produceenough of it ,,But since you are all healed .

Relatively constant attack

Does anyone on here have a relatively constant attack?

I havent felt completely free for about 3 months now,and often am limping around. I take 75mg diclofenac(under the arthrotec brand) twice a day most of thetime, but I dont want to start allo because i haveread (on here, i think) that the allo CAN cause goutto flare up worse.

So what do i do when there isnt a gap between attacksin which to start on the allo?

Again?

Is it usual to have two attacks so close together?

I woke this morning with a dull pain in my foot centred around thebig toe joint left foot, exactly the same as the way the attackstarted 10 days ago. I immediately ran - well hobbled really - to findthe vioxx. It’s my day off so that means I can take it fairly easy.

Just curious about the frequency of attacks?

Yes I did eat a yummy pasta last night with bacon and lots ofgreen peas, but I have also eaten some of the other no nos withoutproblems. I was hoping that I wouldn’t be one of those with goutbrought on by dietary intake.

Does change of weather make a difference/bring on attacks? Wewent from 30 degrees C the last few days to a maximum of lessthan 17 today. Just wondered whether extremes in temp could be afactor?

So far todays’s attack is very mild - hurts a bit to move it - only dullache when kept still. Lifting the toes causes the most pain - otherthan walking.

Last week’s attack was over in a day - let’s hope this one is thesame.

Food inquiry

My doctor told me that peanuts and cashews fall into the category oflegumes and are therefore gout triggers. Any comments? Also, isthere a list of “High In Purine Foods”?

Upped allo to 200mgs daily and pulse slowed down?

I have been taking 25mg atenolol for last 3 years for heart palps.Just started allo at 200mg daily after initial 100mg for 30 days. Ihave noticed feeling a bit sluggish and dizzy. My blood pressure isunchanged but my pulse was down to high 40s low 50s from normal forme in the 60s. My doc has asked me to cut atenolol to 12.5mg dailyand see if it helps. He feels that the allo is causing slowerexcretion of the atenolol and this is why heart rate is dropping(beta-blockers slow heart rate). Has anyone had similar experiences.Any insight (Arnold,Walter, etc) would be appreciated. Never read anyliterature stating that allo could do this. Gout seems controlledbut I am guarded in my enthusiasm right now. Please help!!! Only 34and within past 3 years had all the ekg’s,echo’s,holter test, stresstest and all were benign. Doc prescribed low dose of atenolol tocontrol PVC’s. Addition of allo slowing my heart rate, or so itseems.

Allopurinol causing stress

My father suffers of gout and when he takes allopurinal regurlarly, he gets nervous and stressed. So, he avoids using it and uses other “alternative solutions”, like natural herbs, that are not very effective.

Is there any scientific reason for that?

Is there any way to combate this side effect?

Allopurinol

I’ve been on allopurinol for about 6 weeks now and it’s certainlyreduced the pain in my feet a lot.

However, I seem to have “roving arthritis”. I’ve had each of thefollowing for a few days each.

- Left Knee pain- Right Knee pain- One knuckle swell up- Upper ankle pain- Wrist pain- Another finger painful - no swelling

Anyone know what’s going on?

Food
